The Perfect Manicure

A good manicure begins with a clean hand, so the first step, is to remove your polish. But please be a little considerate and use an acetone-free nail paint remover. Acetone, can dry out the nails and the skin of the fingers. Be gentle, after all you are pampering your hands, you don’t want to make them dry and dull. Now apply a scrub to remove the dead skin cells from the surface of the skin. We may not be able to see the dead skin but a thin layer of the skin accumulates over a period of time. This can make your hands look rough and dry.
Scrubing, helps in removing the dead skin and reveals the soft, supple skin from beneath. Having scrubbed the skin, cut and file the nails.

Do not file the nails too vigorously as it can create tension and your nails might tear off. Most of the nail breakage and chipping happens due to agressive filing and trimming. The key is to be gentle. Also use the nail file in one direction, working the filer in opposite direction is very bad for your nails.
Dip your nails in warm water, to which you have added a cleanser.Soak your hands for about 10 minutes and towel dry, use a cuticle pusher to push the cuticles. Don’t cut them off, they are your shield against bacetrial infections.

Massage your hands with an intensive moisturising cream, preferably one that has shea butter.Massage your hands upto the elbow for at least 3 to 4 minutes. Next, use a hot towel wrap to cover your hands. This method will enable deeper penetration of the hand cream. Repeat the hot towel wrap 2 to 3 times and voila! your hands look so nourished and clean.
Apply nail paint, in a professional manner. Use a base coat since this will make your nail paint stay longer and will also create a smooth surface for your polish. Let the base coat dry completely, now follow it up with the choice of your nail polish. Wear a thin coat and re-apply for the desired colour.

The second coat will ensure that the polish stays longer. Use a steady hand while applying nail paint and cover the entire nail with polish. However, if you loose control and the polish stick out on your fingers, immediately clean it with a ear bud dipped in nail paint remover.
