Sore Throat-causes and remedies


Sore Throat:
A sore throat is a disease primarily in the area around the tonsils. It is also known as pharyngitis or tonsillitis. The pharynx is the part of the throat that lies between the mouth and the larynx or voice box. It is associated most commonly with the common cold or influenza. While most sore throats heal without complications, in some cases, they develop into a serious illness.




Symptoms for Sore Throat may include:
If there's pain in the throat, it may be due to occurrence of sore throat.
In the sore throat symptom, pain may spread to the ears.
The lymph nodes under your jaw and in your neck get swallow in sore throat cases.
If the sore throat is due to the Coxsackie virus, small blisters may develop on the tonsils and in the soft palate.
If the sore throat is due to a streptococcal infection, the tonsils often swell and become coated and the throat is sore.
An injury to the back of your mouth may increase the chances of get affected by sore throat.
Headache may occur in this condition.
Vomiting may lead to sore throat problem.
White patches in your throat or on your tonsils.
There will be the problem in breathing during sore throat.
You will have a problem in swallowing the foods.
Difficulty opening the mouth
Joint pain may occur due to throat problem.
Rash
There will be high fever during sore throat.
Blood in saliva or phlegm
Lump in neck
Hoarseness lasting over two weeks.

Causes of Sore Throat
Following are the major sore throat causes:

1. Common cold
2. Influenza
3. Sinusitis
4. Measles
5. Diphtheria


The following remedies can be used to relieve common discomforts and life's 'little' health problems...
Sore throat

This could be accompanied with cough due to an infection of the lungs, causing a secretion of mucous. Some home remedies that can be used are:

1. Boil water. Add a dash of cinnamon, a little piece of ginger, 1 tsp honey and drink.

2.. Heat water with 2 tsp of lemon juice and 2 tsp of honey and sip.

3. Heat one glass of water, add a tsp of salt and gargle. Be careful not to swallow the water as it may make you feel like throwing up.

4. Take 1 tsp fresh ginger juice, ½ tsp honey and a pinch of turmeric. Swallow this mixture at least three times a day.

5. Heat ½ glass milk, add less than ¼ tsp of turmeric and sugar. Drink while warm.

6. Pour one cup of boiling water over a piece of ginger, ½ tsp ground cloves and ½ tsp cinnamon. Filter it, sweeten with honey and have it sip by sip. This helps when there is mucus in the cough.

7. Add ½ a raw onion, 2 cloves, 4-5 mint leaves, 2-3 black peppercorns and a small stick of cinnamon to a glass of water. Boil it thoroughly, strain and have while it is still warm. To reduce the spicy taste, you could add 1 tsp of honey.

8. Avoid milk and milk products if you have excess mucous secretion for one month

9. You can also gargle with Aloe Vera juice two times daily. It is also an effective home remedy for sore throat.

10. Prepare marshmallow root tea by adding 1 tablespoon of the dried root to a cup. Add a cup (8 ounces) of boiling water, steep it covered for at least 10 minutes then strain. Drink up to 3 cups a day.

11. Prepare honeysuckle tea. Bring 1 quart of water to a boil. . Add 1 cup of honeysuckle flowers (not the leaves). Steep for at least 10 minutes, covered, and then strain. Sweeten with honey if desired. Drink up to 4 cups a day.

12. Water boiled with basil leaves should be taken as a drink, and used as a gargle to relieve a sore throat. It is also effective in sore throat
